The crossover, fusion, and restructuring of music are merely processes; the real task of a musician is to search in old memories and unknown territories for the root and strength that move and touch people. A Root is a fusion band composed of traditional instruments including sheng, yueqin, liuqin, zhongruan, piano, cello, and percussion; all the members are from Yilan. Rooted in Taiwanese culture, their works are inspired by the environment and space; they seek to disrupt and rebuild traditions and tell stories through music. Crossing the realms of traditional opera and ballads, jazz, and improvisation, A Root has a unique position in the contemporary music scene.
